Let’s celebrate the start of our academic year with some inspiring OTs!

Learn from experienced Allied Health leaders as they share their insights and experiences.

Our patron OTSA teaching member and Southern Cross University lecturer will host senior OT and founder of Occupational Therapy Brisbane, David Norris and lecturer in Speech Pathology, Dr Anna Girardi.

We’ll hear about their Allied Health journeys and Dr Girardi will also share about her work in Artificial Intelligence.

David Norris is the founder of Occupational Therapy Brisbane and the ‘Memory Health Made Easy’ Podcast and the online education hub Memory Health Academy. In his 20 year plus career, he has provided Occupational Therapy within Public and Private Hospital, Community, Rehabilitation and Aged Care sector for clients over the age of 45. David’s treated people with a wide range of conditions, with not only neurological and neurosurgical but also orthopaedic/musculoskeletal, oncological and complex general medical and congenital conditions. His primary interests are in Memory Health, Parkinson’s disease, Stroke, Dementia and Ageing and how to maximise independence through rehabilitation, equipment technology, lifestyle modification and excitingly robotics!

Dr Anna Girardi is a Lecturer in Speech Pathology and Program Coordinator of the Associate Degree of Allied Health. Anna completed her Ph.D. at The University of Queensland in 2016, investigating the impact of burn injuries, particularly those caused by button battery and chemical ingestion, on paediatric feeding and swallowing. Prior to commencing at UniSQ, Anna worked as a speech pathologist for 10 years in the hospital setting, gaining experience across acute and rehabilitation caseloads. She continues to work in the hospital and aged care setting as a speech pathologist while fulfilling her role as a lecturer in the new Speech Pathology program at UniSQ.
